Our Philosophy

Holiday Hill Day Camp takes pride in the purposeful focus we place on the relationships forged between our Campers, Counselors, and Instructors. It truly sets the tone for fostering your child’s independence, confidence, and critical thinking skills. We offer both quality daily activities in diverse content areas and also exciting special events across our programming. Our staff strives to ensure that our shared values of teamwork, respect, kindness, honesty, and personal responsibility embody all we do.

Meet the Administrative Staff


Erik Patchkofsky, Director:

Erik has worked at Holiday Hill for 17 years, 14 as director.  Prior to Holiday Hill, Erik was at Camp Laurelwood for 15 years.  During the year Erik serves as the Athletic Director for New Haven Public Schools.


Michael Youngman, Associate Director:

Michael has worked at Holiday Hill for 8 years.  He was the director of YMCA Camp Mt. Laurel and the Green Dragon Camps for a combined 8 years.  During the school year he works for the New Haven Public Schools as a Magnet Resource Teacher and is the facilitator of middle school leadership for the district.


Stephen Siena, Program Director:

Steve started working at Holiday Hill in 2016 as a woodworking instructor. Starting summer 2017 he will be our new program director! We are excited to plan many new program experiences for our campers.  Steve is a physical education teacher in the New Haven Public School System and in his free time enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, and spending time with his wife, two labs, and son, Sebastian.


RJ Voelker, CIT Director:

RJ is entering his 6th summer at Holiday Hill Day Camp. He began as a camp P.E. instructor, then moving on to the programming department. This year RJ will be taking to role as the Director of Counselors In Training (C.I.T.). During the school year he is an physical education teacher in the New Haven Public Schools system, in addition he coach’s  football and baseball.


John Acquavita, Head Counselor:

John has worked at Holiday Hill for 10 years.  During the year John is a language arts teacher of 26 years as well as the head football coach at Wilbur Cross High School.  John has a wife and three daughters.


Karissa Stolzman, Head Counselor:

Karissa has worked at Holiday Hill for the past 6 summers as both the Lead Girls Counselor and Newspaper Instructor. Prior to working at Holiday Hill, she spent her summers working as a summer school reading teacher. During the school year, Karissa teaches middle school language arts at the Engineering and Science University Magnet School in New Haven.


Anthony Alessio, Pool Director:

Anthony has been working at Holiday Hill Day Camp since the summer of 2005.  He has worked as a group leader, athletic director, and for the past ten years as the Pool Director.  Anthony has been teaching Health and Physical Education for the past 22 years and for the last 15 years at Brookfield High School.  He coaches football, wrestling and been an advisor for multiple after school clubs. 


Chris Roberts, Waterfront Director:

Chris has been working at Holiday Hill for 8 years. When he isn't working at Holiday Hill, he is working as an Physical Education teacher at Wilbur Cross High School. He also coaches the quarterbacks as a Varsity Assistant Football Coach and coaches varsity baseball as an Assistant Coach at Wilbur Cross.


Joe Raffone, High Ropes/Project Adventure Director:

Joe has been working at Holiday Hill for the past 10 years as the Ropes Course Director.  Over those 10 years the ropes course has dramatically changed from just a few low elements, to now include 8 high elements and 14 low elements.  Joe  has been teaching Physical Education with a focus on adventure learning in New Haven Public Schools for past 16 years.


Carla Rosato, APRN, RN:

This is Carla’s first year at Holiday Hill. Prior to this, Carla worked her last two summers at Camp Lohikan, an overnight camp, in Lake Como, PA.  A longtime resident of Prospect, Carla is the APRN at King Robinson School Based Health Center in New Haven during the school year.


Jessica Cahill, RN:

Jessica will be returning for her third summer as our Holiday Hill Camp Nurse. She works full-time during the year as an elementary school nurse, coordinator of an after-school program for children and CPR instructor. She is currently earning her Master of Nursing Degree in Executive Leadership and Management at Sacred Heart University.
