58th Season

Dear Parents,

As we begin our 58th summer, Holiday Hill is committed to bringing your children a most meaningful camp experience. My staff and I are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming camp season.

Over the next few months I will be hiring new staff and exploring new and exciting offerings that will help to enhance the camp’s already excellent program. I look forward to seeing these new programs enrich your camper’s experience at Holiday Hill.

I look forward to hearing from you over the next few months with any feedback or suggestions. I am confident that Holiday Hill Day Camp will meet and exceed all your expectations.

This year we are proud to continue our EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION. This offers considerable savings to those families that register by March 31.

Our Open House will be on Sunday, May 6, from 1:00 to 5:00. Our 2012 camp dates are June 25 through August 17. Feel free to call me at (203) 387-2267 for more information.

To ensure proper inventory, we ask that you please send your uniform order in with your camper application.

Dear Parents,

It has been such a pleasure having your children with us this season at Holiday Hill Day Camp. This summer has been an exceptional year of special events and fun filled days. We thank you for letting us be a part of your child’s life. We hope they had a great summer with us, met new friends and learned many new and fun things while at camp.

Have a wonderful “off season” and we hope to see you all back at Holiday Hill Day Camp next year!

2011 Camp information

To The Parents of Holiday Hill Campers:

Please take a few minutes to review the information regarding your campers and important rules and regulations. We are all hoping for a fun-filled summer for the campers and staff.

The week of June 20th you will be mailed a nametag with the Cabin, Bus Number, time of pickup and drop off and place of pickup if applicable. Please be sure that your camper is ready when the bus arrives so every camper is picked up at his or her scheduled time. (I suggest 10 minutes before scheduled time.) The first day of camp the times may be different until the drivers are familiar with the routes. Any bus request changes must be in writing (someone other than parents getting child off bus, going to another camper’s house etc.) These requests must be given to the Holiday Hill office 24 hours in advance. Holiday Hill Day Camp does not drop a child off without an adult present at home. Any parent wishing to pick up their child any day must contact the nurse by written note, not by phone; SUCH PICKUP MUST BE PRIOR TO 3:30 p.m. Our busing rules prohibit any camper from riding to or from camp on any bus other than their assigned vehicle, without a written request to Erik Patchkofsky in advance. Bus procedures to be followed are enclosed. Please review these with your child.

Payment of tuition is due and payable before the camper starts camp. No camper will be picked up by the bus if payment has not been made. Do not at any time send payment to camp with a camper as it could be misplaced. During the camp season you may call the office from 7:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. An important request: Do not email messages to us during the camp day—please call the office.

Uniforms are required by all Holiday Hill campers every day. Uniforms will be handed out on the first day of camp. If for any reason you must return them, please return in the same bag you received them in with their name and cabin number on it. We will not be responsible for any uniforms returned in plastic bags or with notes pinned on them. Names should be on all uniforms, bathing suits, and towels. A permanent magic marker works best. Sandals are not permitted at camp. For reasons of good health practice, all campers should wear socks.

Health forms are required before a camper can start camp. If on any day your child is unable to participate in a camp activity, a written excuse must be sent to the camp nurse. If a child becomes sick or injured during the camp day and the nurse advises that the child go home, it is necessary for the parents to come and pick the child up. Also, if your child will be out for sickness or any other reason on any given day, please call the camp office in the morning. Parents are reminded to put sunscreen on their camper before they leave home and to send sunscreen in with them every day so they can apply it again during the camp day. If you want your child to bring insect repellent, please use a lotion, not a spray.

Campers must bring a bathing suit and towel with them to camp every day. Long pants are required for those taking riding. My suggestion would be for your child to carry a lightweight sweatpant that can easily be slipped on over shoes and shorts. In addition, your child should wear shoes with heals.

It is suggested that campers do not bring or wear unnecessary articles such as rings, watches, tennis rackets, etc., as we are not responsible for lost articles. No radios, Gameboys, or any remote toys are allowed at camp at any time. No water guns of any description are allowed at any time. Any violation of this rule will result in loss of the gun, as it will be taken away and discarded. Lollipops are not permitted at camp. Also, cell phones are not allowed at camp. If your child needs to call home, he or she can use the camp phone.

BASIC RULES OF DISCIPLINE that must be followed at all times: no throwing of any objects, no fighting or name-calling, no hitting with any object such as backpacks, towels, etc., no wandering from the cabin group.

Our goal is to provide a healthy, happy experience for each camper to the best of our ability. For the safety and well-being of our campers and staff, parents need to be aware of our camp policy to permit administrators to inspect items brought to camp, if it is deemed necessary. We would appreciate your assistance by reviewing the above rules with your child.

Dear Campers and Parents,

Another camp summer has come to a close…. and what a summer it’s been!

I feel that the success of our programs and activities this year was a direct reflection of the collective commitment to excellence and leadership of our instructors, counselors, and C.I.T’s.

As usual, our Camp Olympics was a huge success – the teamwork, enthusiasm and camp spirit were unparalleled to anything we have seen before.
The Talent Show was a camp favorite and it showcased the wide range of talents that our campers have.

Our newest program, Family Night, was enjoyed by over 350 guests and received rave reviews.

On behalf of the entire staff here at Holiday Hill Day Camp, we wish you a great school year and look forward to seeing you next summer.
